What's underneath the big coat..

How much can a dog shrink when it's wet? Answer. This much:

Poor Ninja doesn't look that happy..
After the washing..

Did her coat explode or something? Don't you think this is kind of bluffing? ;p

a show in Croatia?

EUW-10 in Celje, Slovenia, showing havanese
Torcedore's Aria El Amore "Siiri" to BOB

Heey! Here we are.. went trough every country in Europe and thought where to go for a show. As it seems now, we'll head off to Croatia and a place called Zadar. There's a 4xCACIB-show with junior handling every day, perfect! The thing is, that it is on the same days as our Lahti INT show here in Finland, and I could be there too :D hmmph. Zadar though looks like a lovely place, it would be like a holiday on the same time as the dog show; we could catch two birds with one stone! ;)

We'll see! Now I've made a calendar on the shows me and my dog(s) will be in spring, just to keep myself on track.

21.1. Turku INT: Junior handling
8.-9.4. Lappeenranta NAT: Junior handling + Ninja
14.-15.4. Vaasa INT: Junior handling + Ninja

Salukis, german spitzes, dachshounds...

Hello there! We have finally snow here in Finland! January and no snow wasn't the best view I've seen..
Nelli has also finally started to grow her coat. Thank god! Last time she had a "normal" full coat was about two years ago.. Before the puppies. Maybe we'll go to some show abroad and try to get the last CACIB.. we'll see!
I've looked on the shows in spring, and as it seems now, Ninja will be attending every all-breed show this spring.. that'll be fun!

I thought about what I should write here, and didn't come up with anything. That's why I will show you these photos taken trough these years with different salukies, german spitzes and dachshounds. Why these breeds? Well, those are the ones that I've competed most with. I thank all those owners who have let me show their dogs, you are wonderful! ♥

Well, now this became a LONG and unfortunately an informational post, but hope you enjoyed the pics! This weekend there will be an international show in Kajaani, Finland. I won't be there, but everyone who's heading there - GOOD LUCK! I'll be waiting for results, someone's going to win the first qualification competition of the year there! :)

Spring plans!

Well then! Planning the shows for spring, huh? Here at least! :) Here in Finland we have some odd "break" between January and April.. Guess the show organizers can't afford the big mess centers they need to get a big international show running in. Pretty sad, because there's not much going on here now. That means, you must head out abroad! I like that thought..

Well we have this one show in Kajaani. I'm just avoiding it because I've heard it's very cold there. Like to not freeze in a dog show.. Getting too comfortable haha! No, well the judge for kleinspitzes is our dogs breeder, so it's obvious my dogs can't compete. Junior handling would've been nice but it's a pretty long way there for "only" junior handling, nearly 600 kilometers.. Not like I wouldn't have done that before,  but this time like this!

Turku 2007, BIS-2 junior handler with a kleinspitz
Year 2007 in Turku INT show with my kleinspitz Tipsu

The next show will be Turku international show 21-22.1. I will be there only the other day, because there wasn't anything to do on Sunday, unfortunately. There will be a qualification competition to the Finnish Championship final in junior handling and an english pointer to show in the breed ring. Don't have to run in hurry, that's a nice little variation. A strange thing came up when the timetables were published.. Junior handlers had been shared to two judges. That's the first time as far as I remember that happens! And it's for sure not a good thing, if you ask me. We have two age groups, 10-13 years and 14-17 years. After both groups are judged, there will be a competition to name the Best In Show-Junior handler of the two winners. If the groups are judged by two judges, how can there be two juniors that represent the same "style/taste" of handling? Will be fun to follow! Because we all know - every judge has their own opinions, and that's why we don't have the same winner every time. Well, I guess we just have to live with this and criticize afterwards.. Hopefully we don't have to :p

Turku 2009, 4th place with a dalmatian  Turku INT show 2011 with the lovely american cocker Afterglow Hail Mery "Meri". We made it to the top 15!
Turku INT show 2009, with dalmatian Kikero                         Turku INT show 2011 with american cocker Meri

And yes, we'll be many, 64 junior handlers in the older group, 17 in the younger. Wonder where the younger contestants have gone.. They grew up and moved to the older group? Hmm. 64 juniors, that's much more that we have had in a long time! Some years ago, that was a normal number of competitors, not anymore, which is a shame. But good to have the "old good times" back in the numbers of competitors! It'll be interesting to attend and follow the competition, our judge will be Mr. Chris Bexon from UK ( in the older group). The handling is different in all parts of the world, so it will definitely be interesting!

Talking about heading abroad, we'll be at the World Winner 2012 in Salzburg at least! Ninja will attend the breed ring and I & my two friends who will travel with me and my mom will compete in junior handling all three days. That'll be fun! Maybe some other trips in the spring also.. We'll see!

Breeder or not?

Now that I will be 17 years old soon, I started to think about to take the Finnish Kennelclub's Breeding class, which you have to take if you want to ask for a "kennel name". In my case I have Ninja now, she's 19 months old and I've got requests about her puppies. I'm not a breeder, as it's not allowed to be here in Finland until you've reached a certain age. I want to have Ninja's puppies under a kennel name, not just "Adalmina" or "Jennifer" as their names.. So here I am, thinking of the breeding course.. I'm gonna go! I have my lovely Ninja and I want to be her puppies breeder.

Ninja when she was about 2 months old and Nelli as a proud mother

There's just the huge responsibility when you're a breeder. Find the right dog to mate your bitch with, your little baby girl that you wouldn't want anything to happen to. In this moment I haven't got any idea which dog I could consider. Then when/if the birth of the puppies have went well, there's the finding a good home to them-problem. How do you know, that the family will take good care and keep in touch with you? There are many things that you have to observe when you're a breeder. But when you have those lovely puppies in the world, that might be the best feeling ever? And when your own breeding wins at a show? That must be a winner-feeling for sure!

Ninja is Nelli's puppy, as Nelli was a co-owned dog with terms of breeding. She did have her litter in May 2010. That was when Ninja and her brother was born. Nelli is now only mine. I'm not planning to have a second litter on her, because of her knees, that takes too much strain when having puppies. She left awesome and beautiful puppies after her indeed. But when it comes to health, there's too much to risk!

Before she's going to have puppies, I want to take her to dogshows as much as possible. My goal is to get her some Champion-titles and also the international champion of beauty-title, C.I.B before that.

What I know, I will need much help from my breeder-friends, hopefully they're ready to give me some advice and help me with my dream. We'll see how this goes and if it goes as planned, Ninja will have puppies next year..:)
